The arena grew quiet.

The remaining two Vipers recovered. They turned, guns glowing hot.

The last Viper panicked. It tried to flee, weaving erratically. Leo aimed not at the tank, but at the road ahead. A cannon shell shattered the asphalt, creating a ramp. The Viper hit it, went airborne, and flipped. It landed on its turret.

The tower collapsed with a screech of tearing metal, sending a tidal wave of brown sludge across the road. The Vipers scattered, their formation shattered. One slid into a ditch. Another spun out, tracks whirring uselessly. The gold-skull Viper dodged the sludge but reversed straight into Leo's line of sight.

Leo drove up to it, looked down at the helpless, upside-down tank, and fired a single, merciful cannon round.

A rocket to the ditch-bound Viper. Boom.

The explosion was a beautiful orange blossom in the gray world. +250 points flashed on Leo’s HUD.
