The plot is driven by Sam’s anxiety. With money tighter than ever, the couple reluctantly agrees to an open house, hoping a buyer might offer a quick financial exit. But for the ghosts, this is an existential crisis. If the house sells, will the new owners be ghost-friendly? Will they be trapped with strangers? Or worse—renovated into oblivion?
After weeks of near-misses and hilarious half-truths, Ghosts finally delivers an episode that asks the big question: what happens when someone actually wants to buy the haunted B&B? “Open House” is a deceptively simple premise—Sam and Jay host a real estate open house to gauge interest—but it becomes one of the season’s smartest, funniest, and most quietly emotional outings. ghosts s01e14 openh264
The ensemble shines here. Thorfin’s solution? Intimidate every visitor with ghostly lightning. Hetty, ever the Gilded Age snob, tries to scare off “low-class” buyers by critiquing their posture. And Sasappis, in a rare moment of genuine vulnerability, admits he’s grown attached to Sam and Jay—a line that lands with surprising sweetness. The plot is driven by Sam’s anxiety
If there’s a minor flaw, it’s that Jay is once again sidelined—his “meet the buyers” subplot feels like a B-story in search of a joke. But Utkarsh Ambudkar’s earnest frustration remains endearing. If the house sells, will the new owners be ghost-friendly
Thorfin, after shaking a visitor’s ladder: “They run fast. Good. Chase is more fun.”
The standout sequence is a masterclass in farce: a family of four tours the house while the ghosts trip over each other trying to prank them. Alberta’s singing causes a chandelier to sway, Trevor accidentally flips a laptop open, and Pete—bless him—tries to “helpfully” guide a lost child back to his parents, forgetting he’s invisible. It’s chaotic, physical comedy that recalls classic Ghosts (UK) at its best.

ReplyDeleteThere is humor, tragedy, grace, twists, love, and pain. It is, at the same time heart touching and heartbreaking. TARA is a brilliant play by a brilliant writer MAHESH DATTANI, first played in the year 1989. The play is named after the female protagonist of the play, Tara.
Are you a Woman, a Female? Then this is a must-read! No other word! Must Read!
