The term refers specifically to the mushaf (printed Quran) published by the Hayrat Foundation (Hayrat Vakfı) , a Turkish charitable organization founded by the late renowned Islamic scholar and calligrapher, Mahmut Ustaosmanoğlu (also known as Gavs-ı Sani). The foundation’s work, particularly its signature Quran, has become synonymous with high-quality, meticulously verified Islamic texts distributed worldwide. 1. Origins and the Vision of Mahmut Ustaosmanoğlu The story of Hayrat Kur’an begins with its spiritual and artistic father, Mahmut Ustaosmanoğlu (1929–2022). A master of the thuluth and naskh calligraphic scripts, Ustaosmanoğlu dedicated his life to ensuring the Quran was printed in a manner that reflected its divine nature. Disturbed by typographical errors, inconsistent orthography ( imla ), and aesthetic shortcomings in many mass-printed Qurans, he set out to produce a "flawless" edition.
