"Das ist nicht modern," he said with a laugh. "Aber es fährt. Komm, Jakob. Wir fahren zusammen. Deine Mutter kann laufen."
Downstairs, Herr Krause was watering his geraniums. He saw Sandra's stressed face through the window.
"Warum zeigst du uns das?" Sandra asked. "Wir sind doch fast Fremde." hueber menschen
And so they went: Sandra walking fast, Herr Krause slowly pedaling with Jakob on the back, pointing at cows and tractors. When they arrived at the lake, all the good spots by the water were taken — towels, umbrellas, loud music.
Herr Krause smiled. He disappeared into his garage. Two minutes later, he appeared with an old, red bicycle and a small child's seat on the back. "Das ist nicht modern," he said with a laugh
They spread out a blanket. Jakob jumped into the water. Sandra unpacked apples and bread. Herr Krause opened a small radio and found classical music.
"Guten Morgen, Frau Sanders. Alles okay?" he called up. Wir fahren zusammen
Herr Krause walked to a hidden path behind some birch trees. "Hier," he said. "Das ist mein Platz. Ruhig. Keine Touristen."
