“Sound needs a medium,” Grandfather said, putting the fork in a vacuum jar. The sound died.
Suddenly, the bulb got blazing hot and died. “Too much current,” Grandfather said. “Remember : V = I × R . For a fixed resistor, if voltage (V) goes up, current (I) goes up. But here, heat increases resistance, creating a non-ohmic failure.” icse class 10 physics
“How do we get this heavy trolley moving?” Anya asked. “Sound needs a medium,” Grandfather said, putting the
Anya looked at her grandfather. She hadn’t memorized formulas. She had lived them. “Too much current,” Grandfather said
“Use the ,” Grandfather said, pointing to a long iron bar. “The fulcrum is here, the load (the trolley) is there, and our effort is here. A longer effort arm means less force needed. That’s a mechanical advantage .”
They pushed. The trolley moved slowly. Anya realized she was doing (force × displacement). When they paused midway, the trolley had potential energy because of its height. When it rolled down a small dip, that energy converted to kinetic energy .
Anya dreaded the upcoming ICSE Physics board exam. To her, Ohm’s Law was a foreign language, the Electromagnetic Spectrum was a meaningless rainbow, and Radioactivity was just… scary.
