Use a flexible drain brush or a wet/dry vacuum set to "liquid" mode to extract standing water and surface lint.

Use an enzyme-based drain cleaner (never chemical crystals) to eat away organic lint without harming your pipes.

Pour 2 gallons of boiling water down the pipe to melt soap scum and flush loosened debris.

Locate the 2-inch drain pipe where your washer hose connects.

Unplug your washer and pull it away from the wall (carefully!).

Insert a drain auger (snake) 3–4 feet into the pipe. Crank clockwise to break up the sludge. Never use a power drill on old PVC pipes.
