Pagefile Sys Delete May 2026

Follow the steps in Option 1 above. This is the only Microsoft-approved method.

It is Windows' virtual memory file. When your physical RAM (memory) gets full, Windows moves less-used data to this file on your hard drive. This prevents crashes, but it is much slower than actual RAM. pagefile sys delete

Have you noticed a massive hidden file on your C: drive named pagefile.sys taking up several gigabytes? While you cannot drag this file to the Recycle Bin like a normal document, you can remove it—but there is a trade-off. choose 'No paging file
