It wasn't the first time she'd bought a box set of a detective show. First Prime Suspect , then Scott & Bailey , then every Wallander she could find. But Vera was different. Vera was a woman who’d made peace with being difficult, with being lonely, with being the smartest person in the room and still eating a sandwich in her Land Rover instead of going home.
