Young — Sheldon S03e08 M4p

Mary announces that Meemaw is coming over for dinner. She’s been acting secretive lately, and Mary suspects she’s hiding something “sinful.” Sheldon, ever literal, asks if she means actual sin (greed, envy, lust) or the colloquial “sinful” like eating an entire cake. Mary sighs. Meemaw (Connie) is on the phone, speaking in hushed tones. She’s just won $1,500 on a lottery ticket. She hangs up, grinning. But then her face falls — she realizes if Mary finds out, she’ll lecture her about gambling being a vice. Worse, if Sheldon finds out, he’ll calculate the statistical improbability of her win down to the tenth decimal and ruin her joy.

Sheldon takes this as permission to investigate. Dinner. Meemaw is unusually quiet. Sheldon watches her like a hawk. He notices she avoids eye contact when anyone mentions “extra money.” He asks directly: “Meemaw, have you acquired a sum of money through morally dubious means?” Mary nearly chokes on her meatloaf. George Sr. tries to hide a smile. young sheldon s03e08 m4p

Mary storms out, humiliated. Mary is furious at Meemaw — not for the gambling, but for the lying and the public scene. Sheldon listens from the stairs. He goes downstairs and says: “I calculated that if Meemaw had told the truth immediately, the probability of a fight was 23%. By lying, it rose to 89%. Therefore, her sin wasn’t greed. It was poor statistical reasoning.” Mary announces that Meemaw is coming over for dinner

He recruits Missy as a spy, offering her a week’s worth of his dessert pudding. Missy agrees immediately. Missy sneaks into Meemaw’s house while she’s in the bathroom. She opens the fridge, finds the Chili’s box, and pulls out the lottery ticket. She stares at it. “One thousand five hundred dollars?!” Meemaw catches her. Meemaw (Connie) is on the phone, speaking in hushed tones

She hides the ticket inside a Chimichanga from Chili's takeout box in the fridge. Genius hiding place — no one in the family eats her leftover chimichangas except her. Sheldon approaches his drama teacher, Mr. Lundy (returning guest star Jason Alexander), after class. He asks for advice on “moral dilemmas involving family deception.” Mr. Lundy, thinking it’s for a school play, enthusiastically launches into a monologue about Iago in Othello . Sheldon interrupts: “No, real life. My grandmother is lying about something.” Mr. Lundy pauses, then says: “Kid, sometimes the stage is safer than the dining table.”

Missy walks by, eating a chimichanga. “Told you she was a sinner.” Sheldon: “No. She’s a strategist.”

Sheldon: “But greed is one of the seven deadly sins.” George: “So is sloth, but you’ve been in that chair for four hours doing math problems instead of taking out the trash.” Sheldon: “…Touché.” Mary volunteers at a church bake sale. Meemaw shows up with a box of store-bought cookies (passing them off as homemade). Mary is suspicious. Meemaw gets defensive. A loud argument erupts in front of Pastor Jeff. Meemaw finally blurts out: “Fine! I won $1,500 on a scratch-off, and I’m not giving a dime to the church roof fund!”
